Week 5

Who owns the newspapers and TV stations in your country? Do you think this has an effect on the news that you hear?
The media of Malaysia include television, radio, newspapers, and web-based media such as bloggers. Many media outlets are either owned directly by the government of Malaysia (e.g. Bernama) or owned by component parties of the Barisan Nasional coalition government (e.g. the Media Prima group, which is owned by the United Malays National Organisation).
Since conventional media is so tightly controlled by the government, Malaysia has a lively alternative media scene, chracterised by such news portals as Malaysiakini and The Malaysian Insider which take advantage of the government's pledge not to censor the Internet despite its stranglehold on most mass media outlets.

Do you think this has an effect on the news that you hear?

Yes, because the government had control every media in Malaysia. The news and information are all had been filter by the government. The news from the internet is totally different from the newspaper and TV news.

week 4 Task

How often do you read the paper or watch the news on TV? How important is it for you to keep up with current events?

News is very important in our daily life, without it we will not know what happening in our world.
Nowadays have many media form can send out the information, such as TV, radio, new paper, internet and so on.
My parent read newspaper everyday they brought 2 language of newspaper as my dad in English and my mum in Chinese. So I have the opportunity to read 2 language of newspaper. In this condition, reading newspaper raise into a habit and it is a must-do activity for me every day.
Newspapers have too many information, I miss out important message sometimes. So that, every night 11pm I will turn on Astro AEC to watch Chinese TV news. They will summarize all important point on every newspaper such as ‘xing chew’, ‘nan yang’, ‘guang ming’ and others newspaper.

Newspaper provides much information such as sport, entertainment, politics, economy etc. Reading newspaper can know the latest news from the others such as latest event or any promotion from which shopping mall, so that I will never out of dates.

As a student of designer, I always look through on the advertisement. The color, info, copy, position and design of the advertisement give me idea on my assignment and widen my horizon on this area.

I am studying at Multimedia University, I didn’t buy any newspaper while I am studying here and there is no television here. Nowadays technology developed, we can watch latest news on internet, latest promotion on social media and others.

In conclusion, news is very important to us, just imagine without any newspaper or TV news how will it become?

Week 3

What is theatre? How do you think theatre, as a media form, communicates messages to its audience?

From the web, theatre is a collaborative form of fine art that uses live performers to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place. The performers may communicate this experience to the audience through combinations of gesture, speech, song, music or dance. Elements of design and stagecraft are used to enhance the physicality, presence and immediacy of the experience.
In my point of view, theatre is a live show. It cannot captured in the film, live actor always bring surprise to the audients. They give different feeling from the film and theatre. We can feel the real emotion from the live actors.

Theatre today includes performances of plays and musicals. Although it can be defined broadly to include opera and ballet, those art forms are outside the scope of this article. They play musical instrument in live.

In theatre or performance arts, the stage is a designated space for the performance of productions. The stage serves as a space for actors or performers and a focal point for the members of the audience. As an architectural feature, the stage may consist of a platform or series of platforms. In some cases, these may be temporary or adjustable but in theaters and other buildings devoted to such productions, the stage is often a permanent feature.
